AASL 2007 Handouts and Ideas Links

Page history last edited by PBworks 16 years, 4 months ago

AASL 2007 at Reno was an incredible experience for me. I got so many ideas, I don't know how I'll ever process them. But, this wiki is my attempt at it! Joyce Valenza and Shayne Russell are definitely now idols for me. I have no idea how they do all they do! So, I am starting with information for their talks, and then will add all the others I can, along with Exploratorium and Exhibitor information I found useful. If you are reading this and want to add comments or additional session listings or links, please do so! If you need the password, email me at jlofton@lvusd.org or jane@lofton.com.

Shayne Russell and Sophie Brookover's Authentic Uses of Technology: Web 2.0 Tools in the Library Media Center

Sophie wasn't there, but Shayne gave a great talk on ways to use flickr, de.lio.us, classblogmeister, and pbwiki.

Joyce Valenza's Information Fluency Meets Web 2.0

What an awesome person Joyce is and what an inspiring talk!

It's a huge ppt file, but there is a link to it at http://informationfluency.wikispaces.com/

Elisabeth Tully's Speaking the Language of the Milennials

When I checked out the handouts for this talk, I was really sorry I hadn't attended.

The handout has a lot of good information about reaching students in the Web 2.0 world. It also has links to podcasting how-to tips, examples of how to use wikis for research guides, and lots more. Elizabeth Tully's library website for the library at Phillips Andover also has lots of good examples to emulate.

Kathleen Baxter's Empowering Boys: Books and Strategies to Attract Boys to Literacy

I've heard Kathleen Baxter at CSLA and she is a wonderful and very entertaining presenter. She included a great list of books to offer for boys and reluctant readers.

Joyce Valenza talked about this site. I want to try using this for creating online book talks.

I want to check out this blogging software recommended by Shayne Russell specifically designed for schools.
